1

Full episodes of SNL UK should be uploaded to the official YouTube channel.

I love that there is a new uk snl, it means I can actually watch the eps on time rather than 7 hours after😭

Glad that UK SNL has it's own YouTube channel. 🎉🎉🎉🎉

WHY am I just now finding out about SNL UK???? This should be advertised on SNL US.

Deeper dives into the history and evolution of SNL's international versions.

I didn't know these versions existed and it blows my mind! I feel kind of ashamed, as a SNL nerd. Learning this was like getting into some kind of SNL-verse.

I’m surprised they’ve never tried to do an SNL spin-off in LA. There’s no shortage of great writers/actors for them to use, and it could cover SNL’s off-season so we could have SNL all year. With the London one starting too this might actually be the game plan IMO, given that Lorne Michaels won’t be able to run it much longer they might want to give multiple different showrunners a chance.

Only just discovered there was a SNL UK. and now I see this...

Comparisons between SNL UK and SNL US, or other international versions.

This is better than the USA version of SNL

Holy FUCK, its only been 2 episodes and its already better than the og snl for the past few decades

Funnier than US SNL. The writers actually thought about how to end the sketch, as well. US SNL sketches drag on and taper out or abruptly end.

More context or explanation for specific cultural references in SNL UK sketches.

A lot of commenters keep saying "this is aimed at American audiences" but as an American, let me tell you that at least a third of these references went completely over my head. So no, I don't think that's true.

So strange hearing “ *live from London, it’s Saturday night* “ A lot of this went over this Americans head, but it was still hilarious and the spirit of SNL is definitely captured here. Good luck to all the breakout cast and stars and here’s to a long run! Well done y’all!

As an American, I got enough of that to see why it's so funny. You know, comedy like this may be a great way for us Yankees to understand the politics of England.

More content showcasing the talent and potential of the SNL UK cast.

ModerateOtherExtracted from 5 comments

As someone from the USA I love that the UK now has their version of SNL. SNL has always been a great time capsule of politics and pop culture from the time they were recorded, and it gives us a reason to laugh and feel good at the end of each week. Having a UK version allows me and others to feel more connected from across the pond, and to see emerging talent from another part of the world. I love that we have both versions to look forward to each week.

Jack is only 3 seconds on this sketch and I'm already locked in to campaign for his 1st BAFTA. QUEEN 👑

They are actually better actors. Like next level.

He is not "his majesty" but "his highness". Majesty is reserved for the king/queen.

Princes aren’t referred to as “your majesty.” Only his mommy was “her majesty.”

As an american now i know what the word nonce means

Discussion on the challenges and future of SNL UK.

ModerateOtherExtracted from 4 comments

It's probably not well-known trivia outside the German-speaking world, but there was a German SNL offshoot in the 90s which was equally anticipated tepidly. But it quickly became a phenomenon and almost all of its cast members became household names, with careers running to this day. And, I mean, if the Germans can pull it off, the British should have it easily in their pocket.

British sketch comedy has a fantastic legacy that, as an American, I'm only getting to know now. I'm not thrilled that this had to be wrapped in an American IP (given what dicks we're being to the world right now), but this might be the only way to get the financing to do it. I wasn't very impressed with the first episode, but I'm really hoping it finds its own footing. Meanwhile, I'm happy binging through the older shows (not all episodes of which were bangers, BTW)! If nothing else, I hope the show helps to shine a light on undiscovered talent.

SNL UK’s first episode was better than 90% of the last 200 SNL US episodes. As an American, my favorite sketch comedy by far comes from the UK. From Armstrong and Miller, and Mitchell and Webb, to Vic and Bob. I love Red Nose Day live sketch comedy. I love every live Dr Who comedy sketch ever, and Joanna Lumley is MY Doctor I truly enjoyed this more than I could have dreamed, and am absurdly grateful to get some access as a yank on YouTube. Be like Taskmaster. Put it all out there. It’s free money.

More behind-the-scenes insights into the making of SNL sketches and the creative process.

ModerateOtherExtracted from 3 comments

I would say the reason why I love this so much is that I have scoured the internet looking for insights from people in SNL on how SNL works and how to one day, maybe join SNL. This really provides some insight that I needed!

I love these rundown segments. Can you just make these into full 30 minutes episodes please?

I would love to see everyone pick a "dream episode" and play it through fully, 25 min vid like this on steroids - one cold open, monologue, prerecord, live sketch 💯 It would be genuinely great 💯💝🎉
