Really good package ideas.. There are so many highly motivated buyers though that the Blues will get even more than any of those in the bidding war... The winner will be happy... but also suffer at the same time.

I swear some people underestimate Thomas’ trade value online…like seriously true number one centers and PPG players don’t just pop up and if you want someone like this you have to give up a haul for the most part…which means Montreal isn’t getting them because apparently their entire prospect pool are all going to turn into Gretzkys and Orrs 🤣 (sorry to the sane Montreal fans I’m mainly talking about the delusional ones who think they could get away with trading something like Dach, Laine and a first or two…because St.Louis would laugh and hang up that phone)

If these are the offer on the table, stl takes the Utah and Boston ones way before all the others. Getting an elite center prospect coming back should be the top priority.

I would not overpay for anyone. Let the rebuild run its course.. Hage may be better than Thomas.Reinbacher may be our best D man in a year.They are all growing together..Don't ever fool with that.

That Utah deal is insane... especially compared to the Buffalo trade. No way can Utah spend that on Thomas.

Guys why would they pay a big price for a 1st line RIGHTY center when they truly need a 2nd Line Center lefty?

Past few years Thomas has been an 80+ point player, put him on a line with Slaf and Demidov, easily a 100 point player, Montreal would be absolutely lethal with Suzuki and Thomas down the middle.

When seeing what the rosters would look like after these trade ideas, you have Robert Thomas slotted in at 2C. Do you see him as a 2C or is he really a 1C? I'm not criticizing your assessment - you're pretty honest and objective about players. I'm just trying to get sense of what caliber of player Thomas is, especially as I've seen trade proposals elsewhere that have him as a true 1C. If St. Louis is looking for the equivalent of four 1sts, it seems like they value him as a 1C, though I guess paying trade deadline prices factors into that.

Robert Thomas has 11g, 33 points in 42 games Andrew Copp has 8g, 33 points in 60 games. Obviously Thomas is an upgrade. Yet... i don't think he's worth what everyone thinks he's worth.

As a Blues fan I do not want to move a 26 year old 1st line center, but if the package is right I wouldn’t be opposed to it, it would just hurt to lose such an important player to the Blues

I still think the Blues need to keep Thomas and build the team around him--I'd hate to see him win another Cup with another team.

Trois points à aborder. 1. Je pense que la stratégie du CH dans ce dossier est la suivante : il surveille le dossier, sans toutefois démontrer à la Ligue qu'il sont nécessairement un intérêt constant et public (contrairement à Détroit et Utah), et lorsqu'il sera le temps d'envoyer la flèche du côté des Blues, ça sera au bon moment. Ça me fait penser au dossier de Dobson : Buffalo on fait un offre, Columbus ont fait une offre, St-Louis + Nashville + Utah + San Jose ont aussi appelé, mais Montréal est arrivé à la dernière minute pour déposer l'offre en question. 2. Vous oubliez aussi ce point en question : Thomas a une NTC dans son contrat, ce qui veut dire qu'il va de son côté choisir la destination qu'il estime étant le mieux pour lui. Le problème avec Utah et Détroit est que ce sont deux équipes ayant une très faible historique de séries récentes, contrairement à Montréal qui ont participer la saison passé. Aussi, du côté de Détroit, la fenêtre en question risque d'être TRÈS faible en terme de temps (puisque la très grande majorité de leur club a été construit avec des vétérans et que ça adonne que tout fonctionne cette saison), ce qui avantage Utah, mais pas comparativement du côté de Montréal, laquelle cette fenêtre est présentement en train de s'ouvrir. 3. Par rapport aux valeurs des prospects, Utah ont un avantage par rapport à Détroit, mais je dirais que ce serait une erreur de leur part de se départir de Desnoyers ou d'Iginla, surtout Iginla, mais j'estime qu'avec le récent WJC qu'on a connu est qu'Hage a une valeur plus élevé que Desnoyers. Aussi, l'avantage du Canadien est le suivant : vous avez parler de Kasper et d'ASP du côté de Détroit, mais l'avantage du Canadiens est que Kasper connait une saison vraiment en dessous des attentes, mais qu'un joueur comme Kapanen connait vraiment une très bonne saison et qu'ASP n'est vraiment pas reconnu comme étant un défenseur qui excelle défensivement, ce qui donne aussi avantage à un Reinbacher par exemple. Kapanen peut être selon moi le Logan Stankoven de la saison passé, qui a été utilisé comme monnaie d'échange pour amener Rantanen à Dallas. C'est vraiment un dossier très intéressant à surveiller, mais tout dépend de l'intérêt du Canadiens de faire ce genre de transaction, et je sais que les partisans ont toujours rêver depuis les 25-30 dernières années à avoir un groupe de gestionnaire qui font ce genre de grosses transactions. * Pour finir, à propos de Myers, Friedman a mentionné qu'il ne s'attendait pas à ce que Myers lève sa clause pour les Red Wings.

Je serais pas mal surpris que les Blues échangent Thomas. À chaque année, Armstrong laisse croire que plusieurs de ses gros joueurs sont disponibles et finalement ils sont jamais échangés. Peut-être qu'il est vraiment sur le marché mais St.Louis s'assure d'avoir des demandes que personne ne peut accoter donc ça va faire patate.

Une raison pour Thomas d'être échangé est peut-être qu'il en a marre d'être à St-Louis avec un club qui ne gagnera rien à l'horizon des 5 prochaines années

Thomas is a quality player tho he does have injuries in his history. Rather than upset the offense i think a quality defender is a better move.

Ideal trade would be Norris , Ellis OR Levi and a first round pick for Thomas but I doubt very much that St louis has interest in the injury prone Norris.
