Be interesting to see Kayce as a lone father with Monica not being involved in this series.

From what I can gather so far: Monica is dead. Home invasion maybe as its hinted in other trailers. Kayce joins the Marshals in hopes of avenging her.

Just saw the first episode. I am divided. It lacks so much "gravitas"? from Yellowstone and comes with a whole lot of CSI and NCIS vibes. Not writing it off yet but it lacks...

I could definitely tell that Sheridan wasn't writing this series. The characters on the Marshal team simply weren't credible; each with their overstuffed bag of reasons. The dialogue was just plain goofy at times and not great all the rest. Tate's character was disappointing and frankly, unnecessary. They should've written Tate's character out by sending him off to college or the military or something. IMO, The best thing about the show was that Monica's character wasn't in it. I didn't think Monica's added anything positive to the original Yellowstone story. I thought whatever arc she did have actually slowed the pace of the story and disrupted its rhythm. The biggest disappointment was "Mo". His character in the original Yellowstone series was badazz! He didn't say very much and when he did, it was usually quite profound. In Marshals, its almost as if his character was set up to be some sort of lame "comic relief" with goofy quips and "observations" that were completely unnecessary. In fact, Mo's character smiled more in this one episode than he did in all 5+ seasons of Yellowstone. I'll give this show one more episode to turn things around. If not, oh well.

Hey how many civilian law enforcements does the US has man? City PDs, Sheriffs, Homeland Security and now Marshalls? And what's the difference? Can't they have like state wide Police Departments?

As soon as I saw it was being shown on National Network TV I figured it would be formulaic, careful not to offend and dumbed down for general audiences. All of a sudden the dialog is not natural but predictable and disappointing. Taylor cannot franchise his style of writing to a network that is falling over itself to stay safe and not offend the viewers or those pesky advertisers. Violence is still fine evidently; we get lots of that - the viewers don't mind that but, language ? .... eeeekk, cannot handle that. A pity.

No, to the new viewers this will not feel like homework. The reason why it won’t feel like homework is because this is a typical network TV show. Which means they cater to the casual viewer. The viewers who are scrolling on their phone and have this on in the background. The characters constantly narrate everything over and over and over again. Because this is a crime of the week procedural drama you can go episodes in between and have missed nothing. In Yellowstone, you would have moments of silence. Moments were characters would tell you how they’re feeling and what they are thinking with no words. They would do it with their body language or with their facial expressions. Now they verbalize all of it. The constant yapping is annoying. The constant generic score playing in the background is annoying. It’s way too brightly lit. The pacing is way too fast because they need everything wrapped up in 50 minutes. Nothing about this feels like Yellowstone. If you loved Yellowstone I don’t think you will like this. If you are new and didn’t come from Yellowstone and liked it, do yourself a huge favour and get a Paramount+ subscription for a month and binge watch the original series and the two spinoffs. You will not be disappointed thank me later.
