He speaks well, even when asked the constant stupid questions. I like him, I like his mentality, he is what we need. He is on the money on the issues. The other thing I like is he is obviously conscious of a lot of the online fan narrative against players like Romero. There has been a negative bias against Romero for a few seasons with the whole Argentina vs Tottenham aspect which sub-consciously gives people a less positive view on him and has been a consistent slant against him over time with no actual proof, just interpretation. When a player who is already thought of slightly negatively has an incident, red card in Romero's case, they are instantly negative as they are conditioned. The media also run this narrative because it is easy and then the whole thing heightens and eventually, sub-consciously, will no doubt start to bias referees. This isn't a football specific thing, it is human nature, but easy to see. When Romero is upset during the game (and was our standout player) people then immediately say it is is Argentina tears, not Tottenham because they are puppets to chinese whispers and never critically think. I appreciate that Roberto, as he told the journalists, backs up the players because he actually knows them, talks to them, and can make a good judgement. RBZ clearly is a guy that wants to connect with players, his skill is player development - I think he is really impressive.

It feels like the off the ball part was the most important part of that and probably the reason these managers have not liked him but I don’t think that players walking in that position is always a bad thing as they find the pockets to receive the ball in and get attacks started. It still feels really strange talking about Tottenham having a serious chance of getting relegated. The team’s performances this season have been shocking, especially at home — just completely unacceptable. Obviously injuries have played a big part, but not enough to justify being where we are right now. I still blame Frank a lot for this, it honestly feels like the players forgot how to play under him. But even worse are Lange and Vinai for keeping him for so long… but that’s a conversation for another time. If Spurs don’t win tomorrow, they’re going down. Simple as that. Leeds and Forest have Wolves and Burnley at home, so they’ll most likely win, and West Ham are away at Palace — tougher game, but still one where they can get points. If Tottenham don’t beat Brighton, they’ll watch the others pick up points and pull away from the relegation zone, making the situation even worse — especially mentally, which is already in a terrible place. The team hasn’t won a single Premier League game since late December, and now we need them to win 3–4 out of the last 6 just to stay up… is that even realistic? The team NEEDS a win, and it HAS to be tomorrow. Otherwise, what kind of mindset are they taking into the away game against Wolves? Even if they’re already mathematically relegated, Spurs always struggle against them, and with this fragile mentality, I wouldn’t be surprised if we lose again… I’m really worried about tomorrow. The boys need a win to build confidence and actually believe they can fight this. They all need to step up and show they can at least do the basics. I still have a tiny bit of hope, but everything depends on this game against Brighton — a good team that always gives us problems and has won 5 of their last 6 games… it’s going to be tough, but there’s no other option.
