Detailed explanation of Gukesh's World Championship win, addressing the 'accident' narrative and his subsequent performance.

Well Gukesh is champion because he upstaged his opponent. Not because someone withdrew from the tournament. So champion is a champion even if it's attained by smallest margin

Gukesh is an accidental youngest world champion. But credit must be given to him. He won the candidates. Right. I think still he has a good chance to defend his title and silence the critics 😮

You purposely left out the statement where he also called himself an "accidental world champion" going by the same logic to make him look even bad.

There's another version of this with the g pawn

Queen is damn near trapped after 2 pawn sacrificed

It's called the Desprez or Kadas Opening. I just looked up examples of it but they aren't plowing all the way (which is the strongest way to play it. Opening the Rook file and creating a thorn pawn)

3

Comparison between Gukesh and other top chess players, particularly historical figures like Karpov and contemporary players like Magnus Carlsen.

ModerateComparisonExtracted from 15 comments

This coming from Karpov is the most most ironic and bs thing ever.... Man won his first World Championship just because Fischer didn't show up for the match and 5 more in an era where NO ONE was even close to Bobby Fischer in terms of chess strength But Gukesh's Championship is an accident??😂😂OK

When Karpov met Anand at Lausanne , he was well biased by FIDE, challenger was given practically no break or rest after the candidates. Even then the margin was narrowest- 6-6, 3-3 & 2-0.Anand opined about it- KARPOV WAS WAITING FOR THE CHALLENGER COMING IN COFFIN!!. Karpov' s remarks are true for himself, who became WC by accident because Fischer didn't compete.

Please read more about chess ..this is from some one who is following chess 7 decades ....Anand Played Karpov in Laussane , Switzerland in Title match . It doesn't matter what any one says..Gukesh won candidates and beat Ding ( Nepo failed !) to become world Champion... Winning tournaments doesn't make any one world champion . just to quote Korchnoi or Larsen never were world champions. Inspite of criticism Petrosian beat Spassky at his best in 1966 . It's not going to be easy for candidates winner to walk through Gukesh. He is very young and his resilience will be visible in 2026 Title match . Comparing Karpov, Kasparov ,Carlsen with other world champions makes no sense. They were truly dominant during their reign

Guki has age on his side.Think he will do it.Let him forget all the B.S.around him.Pray for him.❤

That’s ok. Getting negative feedback is not a bad thing. It will make Gukesh think harder about new strategies. He is young and has many more years to play.

Understanding the context and intent behind Gukesh's actions, such as throwing the king or his general demeanor.

What is your opinions on This King Throwing ?!

the organizers told whoever won to throw the king its not disrespect

That was actually staged

Clarification on Gukesh's post-championship tournament performance and win rate.

Bs even if he withdrew, please mention that Karpov is the record man of winning chess super tournaments, what are the tournaments that gukesh won since being world champion please tell people or stay quiet ! Carlsen is a real last champion.

Karpov won many tournament, while he was champion, Gukesh have won ZERO. Yes karpov became champion after Fischer's abdication but Karpov did defend his title against Korchnoi. Learn some history before disrespecting a legend such as Karpov. Yes Gukesh did win his championship match against Ding liren fair and square, but how can we as viewers continue to ignore his abysmal record since, winning Zero tournament as world champion is simply indefensible, and all the criticism(not winning tournaments) labelled at Gukesh is perfectly justified.

Karpov was the strongest chess player in the world when he held the World Champion title. He won almost every tournament he entered. Gukesh is languishing at the bottom of the standings in the tournaments he competes in, doesn't look like a favorite against any player in the 2026 Candidates Tournament, and isn't even in the top 10 in modern chess. So yes, he essentially earned the title by accident. And most likely he hardly considers himself a World Champion.

Discussion on Gukesh's playing style, including his perceived lack of aggression and humble demeanor.

ModerateVerificationExtracted from 7 comments

And after that Gukesh defeated Nakamura still he didn't showed any aggression. A man without ego is GOAT🫡💀

Bro i think its common in sports and just enjoy their win ...and ofcourse the legend one ....but i like gukesh humble and calm .......

Gukesh is too humble to do this kind of things

Discussion on the validity and significance of the World Championship title in the current chess landscape.

I am not a big fan of Gukesh . But I think he earned WC by winning candidate in the most noble way . Ding I think was lucky to be qualified through wild card ! I don’t care WC anymore anyways after Magnus left . Somehow I lost the charm for classical WC . It’s personal

Exploration of Gukesh's personal journey and focus, particularly regarding his transition from a rising star to a celebrity.

MinorVerificationExtracted from 2 comments

When Gukesh was a nobody, he was single minded and focused, tenacious will power and hard working. When Gukesh became WCC, he became the next Indian celebrity. Gukesh made a mistake all Indian celebrities make - He thought he was a celebrity and lost his focus and edge. Now Gukesh is again a nobody. Gukesh needs to realize he is a nobody before it's too late. A celebrity Gukesh will never win the WCC. Only Gukesh the nobody can.
