Great video. People that crap on this record have to realize that it’s a collection of outtakes! It was NEVER passed off as new music. When it’s taken in that context, it’s a great record.

I love this record. Every time I play it I marvel at how this was assembled from leftover recordings. THIS was music that didn't make it onto their previous LPs. Amazing.

"Ozone Baby" and "Wearing and Tearing" are underrated bangers. It's a shame they never had the chance to be played live.

John Paul Jones wanted to write a song that no one else could play, he succeeded.

John Paul Jones wrote this piece after he heard what he describes as " a long rambling blues riff ...". So, he set out to write one of his own. When he first heard it, John Bonham didn't know what to do with the middle section. They told him to just keep it to 4/4 and they would catch him at the other side.

I think that the call and response style is satisfying

Love this album! I remember taking the subway downtown into Toronto on my own (which was a big deal in 1982 as a 15yr old)on the day Coda was released to pick it up. I came home and played it over and over again until I fell asleep. I went into school the next day and all my buddies were excited about the new Zeppelin release . When I told them I’d already picked it up the night before it blew their minds 🤣! I was known in high school as “the Zeppelin guy” . Zeppelin on the turntable all the time,Zeppelin on my Walkman all the time and The Song Remains the Same in the theatre every weekend. Good times! Great episode,Jose. Thank you❤️ Ps on a side note…I’ve been digging into the 1977 New York run of gigs….which I haven’t done in a while. Every show is amazing. I love that they added Over the Hills to the set list. Robert trying to hit the high notes on the 13th is quite funny🤣.

Saw them at the Chicago Stadium back in ‘77 such a memorable concert!!

Live at Madison Square Garden 1973, is a great live version of this song. Thank you for your reactions.

Apples and oranges.

What the hell? Robert Plant had one heck of a career after Led Zeppelin. Eight studio albums? Nonsense.

He’s very rare! So rare it isn’t even Zep- just a tribute band!!!!!!!!

Its all wrong as Jimmy wouldn't be playing The Ocean with a Danelectro.

I watched this when it aired, and the audience didnt get them because their music was so radically different to the pop they loved at the time. So they went underground and still conquered the market. Their songs are still valid and popular today. Cruising through the ages even more relevant than then.

Where it all began!

Never heard there music like this again..

Zep called it a day on my 18th birthday, December 4th 1980 …I was devastated

I never appreciated that Coda was a tribute to Bonzo. Thank you for that context. Makes sense.

Geez Jose 😢. Hearing their dissolution statement actually read out loud brought me to tears. I continued to cry throughout the rest of the video. Hearing Jimmy playing guitar with Jeff continued my sadness. I can only imagine how lost he must have felt during that time. CODA was already on my list to add to my collection but now I want it even more from hearing about the John Henry Bonham aspect of it. He’s my absolute favorite drummer of all time. Just a phenomenal musician. They all were/are. I want part 2, I think. No, I do. Thank you for sharing this story man. It really tugged at my heart strings in a surprising way. PS: I had to watch it again.

What the hell? Robert Plant had one heck of a career after Led Zeppelin. Eight studio albums? Nonsense.

Robert Plants first solo album is really impressive👍👍

I bought CODA the day it was available at my favorite record store. I immediately loved it because I am a huge Zeppelin fan. I understood why Jimmy released this collection of studio cast-offs, live recordings, and unfinished outtakes from 69, 70, and 73, because he explained this in magazine interviews, and so did other people who were involved with Zeppelin at the time. The version of I can't quit you baby on Coda is the greatest recording of that song that Jimmy Page has ever done. This album deserves WAY MORE attention. I still have my original run that I bought in 82. This album always reminds me of a time in my life when I was 18 years old, dropped out of high school because Seattle public schools had turned into prison compounds, I was a little depressed, and then I decided to join the United States Army. Now it reminds me of a time in Jimmy Page's life when he had hit rock bottom. Any public appearance by Jimmy Page during this time revealed exactly how bad he had become because of his heroin addiction. I've always felt that during this time Jimmy Page chiseled away at his brain and his soul and he lost his ability to be the Jimmy Page of 1973. 2 years later a completely different guitarist would emerge alongside Paul Rodgers to The Firm. He had managed to reinvent himself. The Firm is another band that deserves way more attention than all of you have given to this great effort. Page/Coverdale is another great effort that deserves way more attention than it has received. I am a lifelong loyal and rabid fan of James Patrick Page.

A quote from Jones: “We struggled with the turnaround,” Jones added, “until Bonham figured out that you just four-time as if there’s no turnaround. That was the secret.”

Poor tom and wearing and tearing are my favorite tracks off the album.

It's funny, I started with CODA. When I got to "I Can't Quit You Baby" I thought it was the heaviest when thing ever. Not "metal" heavy....but heavy you know? Walters walk, Ozone Baby, Darlene....I was hooked! It's a great album through and through.
