This is a KILLER deal, especially for the $499 education discount. I feel like the only big quality of life feature missing is TouchID on the base model.

Adding the Touch ID increases the price by £100/$100 as it only comes with 512GB storage. Shame you can't increase the RAM to 16GB. P.S. It is the MacBook Neo and not Neom (3:46).

There is no backlight in the keyboard, no auto-brightness in the screen, and no force touch in the trackpad. Instead, it has a simple mechanical button, similar to a regular multi-touch pad like the Windows Book.

Für ein paar Euro mehr bekommt man das MBA M5 mit jeweils fast doppelt so viel Cores, 16GB RAM, echte TB4/USB4 Anschlüsse, 512GB SSD, MagSafe, beleuchtete Tastatur mit Touch ID, Trackpad mit Force Touch, mehr Lautsprecher und Micros… Und das Air wiegt genauso viel wie das Neo und ist auch genau so kompakt. Schade

Was ich genial daran finde, dass Apple den A18 Pro benutzt ist, dass das Ding Singlecore technisch auf Höhe mit einem m3 ist und multicore mit einem m1, also für alltagsaufgaben extrem schnell wegen den straken Kernen und auch für Multitasking auch völlig ausreichend. Gleichzeitig wird das Ding nochmal effizienter im Grundbetrieb laufen, weshalb, das neo eine exorbitante Akkulaufzeit haben sollte)

This computer is not for everyday users. This is to replace your Chromebook or low spec ass Windows machine with a MacOS device. This is not going to be something bought if you want to do content creation or design work n the regular. This is basically an iPad with a keyboard and some other quality of life features a laptop has for a form factor. Stop comparing it to the Air, the Air is the mid-tier option for those who need more power. This is the new entry level MacBook. This is the one you buy your kid in Elementary/Middle School so they can do their homework. This is going to be the laptop schools switch to as to avoid having to constantly replace those cheap ass Chromebooks and old ass Lenovo ThinkPads. You need more power than this? Buy the Air. You need more power than the Air? Buy the Pro. You need more power than the Pro chip in the Pro? But the Pro with the Max chip. Stop shitting on this actually great tech news.
