Detailed explanation of the movie's plot and themes, especially the feminist messages and Mary Shelley's role.
Imagine making an adaptation of the Frankenstein story, giving a character the voice of Mary Shelley, and have her tell the audience "This is the real story I could never tell"? Mary Shelley invented a modern genre and was an actual creative pioneer and here comes Maggie Gyllanhal, larping as an artist, talking up her own derivative story as some sort of trailblazer and making Mary fucking Shelley her own personal town crier. And audiences are turned off by this? I'm shocked.
It’s a bold swing indeed. However this movie is prime example of having a message rather than making a good story with The Bride of Frankenstein.
Sinners had a mature way of showing culture and prejudice. This movie beats you over the head with fake feminism. Having your lead say “Me Too” isn’t feminism. Having her almost get SA’d 3 times is overkill. I’m a woman, and seeing shit like that just pisses me off.
Clearer understanding of the movie's budget, marketing, and reasons for its box office failure.
Chris, you really aren't doing anyone any favors by supporting this movie. Everyone is hating on it for a reason, and you guilt tripping people into going and supporting it is sending the wrong message to Hollywood. We want good movies, not movies that swing and miss constantly.
The movie is losing money Chris probably because people think it’s terrible and people are staying away from it. Just because a movie is original doesn’t mean it’s going to be good and EVERY original movie has to do well in theaters.
I read this film’s budget was $90 million. How in the hell did they expect to make a profit on it?
Discussion on Jessie Buckley's performance and career trajectory, including her Oscar chances and past reality TV appearances.
You seem more interested in the fact that creative movies are being made and less interested in them being good. I could appreciate any movie as long as it’s good, but I’m not going to see a movie just because it’s creatively bad🤷🏽♂️
Jessie wins her Oscar and then right behind it, she gets a Razzie nomination and maybe a win.
Does Jessie B qualify for a Razzie this year?
Analysis of Maggie Gyllenhaal's directorial choices and her readiness for a big-budget film.

Dude used to have credible reviews now just comes off as a simp for Hollywood. Also... Ozempic? Wtf
Its crazy to give a movie a $90 million budget when the director has only done one movie before. Probably bc of her name.
Comparison of 'The Bride' with other Frankenstein adaptations or similar films like Joker.
Someone really called this Frankenstein Folie a Deux and I cannot unsee that now
Not only do they sing Putin’ on the Ritz but they also have a roll in the hay lmao
Trailers made it look like a slightly better Folie a Deux and that's not saying much
Critique of the movie's pacing, editing, and overall structure, with specific examples of what didn't work.
But isnt it also a requirement that the movie is good? This review seems a long winded way of dancing around that simple fact
This film is the definition of “it insists on itself”
Talk about walking on egg shells. Borderline considering to just unsubscribe at this point, miss the older review style from way back. This was a hard watch
Discussion on the film's sound design and music, particularly the loudness and overuse of certain tracks.
My eardrums were quite literally almost blown out during puttin on the ritz. Thank GOODNESS I carry a pair of loop earbuds in my bag. They stayed in the rest of the film and helped mute the blaring screaming, gunshots, and music for the duration of the film. I’ve never had that experience during a film and was ready to just blame the sound mixing/volume of my AMC’s speakers but based on reviews, I’m not the only one who had an issue with the over-the-top loudness of this film. I feel like an old lady pointing this out but I’m only 26 and fearing permanent hearing loss from this film😭
“Somehow the police can’t catch Frankenstein.” Maybe this does take place in Gotham city.
over the top obnoxious music, some of us might want to hear what they're saying
Clarification on the creative decisions behind specific scenes or elements, such as the Mary Shelley narration or the 'Puttin' on the Ritz' scene.
The Mary Shelly narration did not work and it takes you out of the movie from time to time. Very annoying 😢
I know this movie wasn't going to work for me the moment the decision was made to have Mary Shelley be her inner voice.
The easiest way to shorten this is to dump the detectives (and I like those actors). I enjoyed this because I like Art Deco and 30s fashion and film and so the visuals worked for me. But it is chaos for sure. And the Shelley voice did not work for me at all (I do note that at the beginning of Whale's Bride of Frankenstein there is a conversation with Shelley, but...).
Exploration of the film's visual style, cinematography, and production design.
What a suck up. When you are praising the set design you know the movie sucked.
I like to where did the 90 million dollars go in this movie cause it doesn't look like it spent 90 million dollars
At least in my opinion it's better than Joker 2
Information about the cast's chemistry and interactions during promotional events.
Top notch performances from Bale and Buckley, beautifully shot film, but messy story, overall enough there to make me still care about this film!
Christian Bale's black hoodie looks like Batman's cloak
I loved this cast lol
