I think it is important to comment on where you will be doing most of your hiking as well. I am in New England where a hike in the Whites a lot where there are tons of things to snag on. I have an Alpha fleece and it destroyed from snags. I'm moving over to the Octa because it looks a bit more durable and all other factors are pretty equal. Time will tell I suppose.

You forgot to test warmth. Two favorites of mine is the TNF Futurefleece and Norrøna Falketind Alpha120 zip hood. The last one is truly a quality garment with features you will come to love. Alpha Direct works best when it sits close to the body. Unfortunately it does not have stretch, something the Norrøna Falketind Alpha120 zip hood solves by having stretch panels to accommodate plus good cuffs and so on.

What i was interested in was Which insulates better. Which one is warmer, its my insulation layer and sleep layer. So which one seemed to insulate better for you? Cheers.

Love the way during the review Raiti throws in nostalgia into the mix..Jolly Ranchers, Twinkies...etc. and in this video, Carnival Cruise and his experience. I am not a fan of Cruising either But style and design of the OCTA really got my attention. Who knows, a possible lease in the future. Never ownership, the Reliability paranoia is still there.
