Caitlin Clark's performance at the FIBA qualifying tourney is what changed the negotiations. CC dominated and won MVP. While the crowds were small, the electricity and attention she brought the game internationally was encouraging to WNBA owners. The owners are banking on CC to grow the game. Without her, the owners have ZERO belief in the eventual financial viability of the League. Nneka did nothing to sway the minds of the Owners during negotiations. They saw CC's performance and again realized that she has the GOODS to take the women's game to the next level. They are betting heavily on her health and longevity. Without her, the league will stagnate.

Transformational???? Naaaaaah. NOT AT ALL! Dont be fooled. The WNBA women players were paid so low to begin with so this income jump SEEMS MONUMENTAL in % but really is NOT practical successful business model! As you would expect the DEVIL like most things in life is in the DETAILS! EXAMPLE If a basic animal is starving and hasnt eaten food in weeks, the moment the animal sees and smells FOOD it gets VERY excited! EXAMPLE..Instead of waiting until the DEAL WAS OFFICIALLY inked in writing, THE PLAYERS UNION rep goes own national tv and HAD TO GO PUBLIC immediately with the news which is only a verabal agreement CLAIMING THE players union WON??? REALLY??? Goes to show you how anxious and desperate the wnba player's union was to accept basic negotiation terms and to quickly BRAG about what they WON!. Not an example of a true WINNERs mentality. Simply not true. The UNION CAVED TO EARLY in negotiation areas which involved KEY revenue gates to be potentially earned by the players which they did not fully maximize-capture successfully. ALSO one other key fact. NOTE the wnba has always and still is a LOSING business proposition unlike the men professional sports league histories (NFL, NBA & MLB) which ALL have a history of making an annual PROFIT, while the WNBA LEAGUE continuse to lose $50 MILLION PER YEAR in annual revenue. So the players union had very little leverage from the start concerning serious negotiation outcomes because the wnba league has NEVER MADE money for its investors-owners. So how then could the players union claim they WON big if the WNBA has NEVER MADE a PROFIT in the LAST 30 YEARS from its inception as a business ? Like most socialistic societies whicj are uncessful (ie..Cuba), they lose money- thinking they won for the citizens -players, which is FAR from the TRUTH! This fact denies practical CAPITALISTIC business LOGIC! You really believe these ALREADY SAVY business owners who own wnba teams along with other SUCCESSFUL businesses were going to continue falling further into debt with an already proven wnba losing revenue history? The players now believe they won in negotiation talks even though the league each year LOSES MILLIONS ??? Of course the WNBA women like most women in life need to " FEEL" instead of " THINK" they got a great DEAL but in reality THINK ABOUT IT the players union didnt actually REALLY WIN as they claim. Adam SILVER and his TOP LEAGUE-owner LAWYERS would never continue to LOSE to the players union on a bet which has NEVER produced THE WNBA OWNERS a profit! Sure the girls got some CRUMS to keep their mouths shut but the crums were NOT MONUMENTAL as the players UNION CLAIMS because in SUMMARY the league annually has never made a profit thus is a proven losing proposition which means the PRODUCT (women's wnba basketball players who many struggle to make basic layups and bairly pack arenas nationally is far from being a desirable asset to be overwhelmingly supported by the sports consumer in general). Due credit CATLYN CLARKs success timing who ironically is not kindly embraced by many players and wnba leadership demostrates ALSO ignorance from wnba leadership. An example why the league has continued to fail in the past. Not a knock but consumer interest objectively DICTATES the truth! FAR FROM THE TRUTH, the wnba players union OVERWHEMINGLY WON NOT TRUE...FACTS!
