These pilots were Canadian heroes. They could’ve veered left or right to avoid an impact with the cockpit, but doing so would have caused an impact with the wings where all the fuel is stored, resulting in a fireball eruption. It is likely, that would have resulted in passenger fatalities. Please keep these pilots and their families in your thoughts and prayers!

Its important to remember that this Air Traffic Controller had 5x the work load. Normally multiple Controllers are assigned to roles. Such as one contoller communicates with runway traffic the other flight traffic, etc. Whereas this controller was forced to communicate for multiple roles. Which allowed him to get tounge tied, confused and made a huge and fatal mistake. He will never live guilt free again. That will weigh on him for the rest of his life. RIP to the pilots.

Dear Captain Steeve. I was in this flight. It was a tough moment, but during the almost 10 minutes flying, I was relying in engineering, protocols and training. Everything run perfectly well. The Pilot was "flying" and the flight attendants were perfect. I witnessed the entire flight deck team entering the cockpit, because they arrived a little late due to traffic in São Paulo, and they were amazing. You were accurate in reporting everything that happened. It will be nice to explain to you with more details what happened and recognize the entire crew for the perfect job.

The engine is on fire! My instructor: engines are always on fire. The fire is just in the wrong place.

No injuries in only 10 minutes is a testament to the pilots. AI works well on a good day and can be a good tool to help troubleshooting, but when there’s a problem I want a well-trained, experienced pilot in charge. Sorry you were retired.
