My first car was $800. Drove it for 5 years. My second car was $2300. Drove it for 12 years. My next car was $2,000. Drove it for 11 years. Then I bought a $500 civic for my wife. Drove it for 4 years. I invested hundreds of thousands of dollars and grew it exponentially, all while driving older reliable vehicles. I watched my coworkers have pissing contests trying to buy bigger more expensive vehicles. They gave me shit for driving a 20 year old car. I never once cared. I didn't care what they drove. Now I have a lot of money. I actually haven't worked in 2 and a half years by choice, because I don't need to anymore..

This guy is correct. I drive a 14 yr old truck but my house has been paid off since 2017.

I'm driving a 2002 Honda CRV with 200,000 mi on it, still runs perfectly. And I'm typing this in a paid off house.

Classic Jevons Paradox case: If you can sleep in a robotaxi, an 8‑hour trip stops being a barrier. You could sleep through the ride on Friday night, spend a full weekend somewhere far away, and still be back for work Monday without taking leave. That would fundamentally change how people use their days off.

Can't believe you've just sold me on this concept, but you indeed have. This will greatly help both my wife and myself as we move to our final chapter, into assisted living in a nearby town. I hope to sell our rural property and use the proceeds to help us live out whatever time we have left on this rock. I've been gradually losing my vision these past few years, and estimate that a year from now, I'll no longer be able to safely drive a motor vehicle. If Cybercabs become available in Canada, I think I'll divert some of the proceeds from selling our home into buying one of those cars; it will be a tremendous help, especially to my beloved, who already can no longer drive as it is. I am so anxious. I'm a person with a visual impairment so this will be beyond life changing for me. I'll have real independence for the first time in my 42 years being alive. I feel like the hype for all this is at fever pitch and I'm very optimistic. However I've been let down time and time again. This time does feel different though with production looking likely in April. I just hope this actually happens and regulation doesn't delay it for another decade

Is the Duolingo owl dead? The stock is being sold off as if it's over for the company. Investors are scared, and are looking for any reason to validate their AI concerns. When you look at the actual numbers they gained 2.7 million additional daily active users in the past 3 months and grew paid subscribers by 28%. I'm not sure where the bottom is for this stock, but the combination of steady growth and the stock price going down, we should eventually find it. Intuit just grew revenue by 17% gave a solid guide, and is trading down as well, even after dropping almost 50% already. Tough conditions for "saas" stocks. I'm going to keep holding both. Not just oil field workers. I grew up out in Odessa. I live in the Dallas area. I see people with the same job as I but got 450,000 houses, new cars , goes on trips. I finally bought a car after 12 years and paid cash. I live in a very modest townhouse. But I have investments in stocks and Appartment building. Now making more money than my job. People go broke to look rich and to impress people they don't know and who don't care.
