I don't understand why everyone is getting "blown away" with Panther Lake's performance, especially when compared to Apple Silicon. Reviewers are literally comparing Intel's highest offering with Apple's base M series processor of the current generation, and still get beaten. I'm not an Apple fanboy, heck, I got a M1 Pro MacBook Pro a few months back and always have been a Windows guy, but this comparison is annoying. Or maybe I'm just missing something.

And then you compare the M5 Pro which comes in a few days and the performance difference is not even close.

In all honesty, the M4 air with 16gb for $749 vs A18 with 8GB for $599, for $150 more and 16GB ram is the better deal.

12gb is the safe spot for ram

I am using MacBook Air M2 with 16Gig ram and Mac Mini M4 32Gig, the MacBook Air almost always has considerable swap going on but the Mac Mini never. I always have quite a number of tabs open in Safari on both machines and these tabs load the memory a lot. But even though the Air has about 3 gigs of ram free it still swaps to the ssd, but the mini never. So the next Air I buy will be with 32 gig ram.

Bro talk about the battery without telling how long it will last against the macbook

I'm using a Lenovo Yoga 2-in-1 14 and it's a great laptop. I get 13 hours of battery life doing casual stuff and it has the power of an M1 chip which is enough for me. I love the 4k screen but I would love to go from three points to 2.2 which is why I'm looking at the Thinkpad X1 Carbon Gen 14. I like the weight and the repairability. I assume that the battery life is comparable or better than Lunar Lake. I also assume performance is better. Why do I want Panther Lake instead of a MacBook? I have a program that is native Windows x64. It takes a 65% performance hit running on Apple Silicon. Two of the programs I use also have issues with Tahoe. I'm hoping that they are fixed by this summer. The other thing is the weight. Even the MacBook Air 13 is 2.7 pounds while the MacBook Pro 14 is 3.5 pounds. I don't see MacBooks getting down to 2.2 pounds but Apple could surprise me. One of the other issues for me is that Rosetta 2 is going away in 2027. And that program that is one of my most important isn't going to get ported to Apple Silicon. One other thing that I'm looking forward to on Panther Lake is PCIe Gen 5 NVMe speeds.

First time viewer! If it has Always connected cellular I'm all in. i know that means cannibalizing their iPad business slightly but they're about to do that with the fold phone in ther near future and rumored Touch laptops rumored in the distant future, However that potential for always on connection (it is an iPhone chip and Apple has the C1 love's carrier subsidies) mixed with Greater battery life over their pro line, even as a MBP 14 M3 user. Now back in school I can appreciate a small, lightweight, laptop with 22hr battery as the weather is getting nicer. I almost traded with my wife to get back my old m1 8GB MBP just because the battery life was sooo good! Even as a nomadic tech-head I'm appreciating a minimal processor (for battery) and now at 35 lighter weight designs. Even if they were to use lightweight iPhone CE material for durability and to hit that price point I'd be all about it. Being an educational play I could see it being even IP rated and quickly repairable to address juicy keyboard spills..... 🤔 What do you think?

Steve Jobs was correct. Unless this device folds all the way back into a tablet or Microsoft design PC thing, it's even less use than the MacBook Pro toolbar. Try touching your own laptop screen and you'll experience all kinds of muscle strain.

They make the iPad less touch focused by adding a keyboard and window management to it just to put the touch controls on the mac. At this point just merge both device and that's it

How about the price for that laptop window? I think the customer always pay more for that perfomance so much. Like me, I just pay minimun for M5 base and that's all I need man! What I get if the same 1.600$ for laptop window? And btw about speaker, I think laptop window can not have the speaker like Macbook. I'm sold surface pro 11 and switch to M5, the same render video4k 50F by Surface 45 mins and macbook can resolve it by 14 mins, lol...

As a Windows PC user, I can say that hands down Apple makes impressive hardware and I would gladly recommend Macbooks to users who just need a general purpose computer for everyday tasks and also to media and content creators, and even programmers. Now for persons in specialized fields like Engineering or IT admins, or cybersecurity, a regular PC is still the way to go. There are still certain specialized Apps and equipment that simply do not work with MacOS and 86 architecture is still has the most compatibility across the board. Now, as the x86 to Arm emulation layer continue to improve this may change in the near future. Lastly, while I like PC gaming, I would not recommend and do not see the point of investing in an expensive windows laptop just for gaming..... Console gaming is much more affordable and gives you more value per dollar....

I am software Engineer in Testing department! I was in Windows before but it seems like windows can't handle heavy workloads well like Mac! it has ads and unnecessary RAM eaters, Windows sometimes has bugs and often have screen frozen or other complier plug in issue. Then I moved to Mac and its game changing.. Mac is not for gaming but its for people who work in tech companies who wants stability and reliability with long lasting battery power. I don't have complaints so far with Mac

the bloatware and ads are insane on these copilot laptops.. I really did spend an hour uninstalling junk but so far in love with this pantherlake omnibook.

I was going to rush to the comments section saying that the problem now is not with the hardware but the OS itself. Glad I decided to watch the whole video first, and glad that you also pointed out this problem. I still have to use Windows because I still need some software available only on that platform (actually, the software is also available on Mac, but Mac laptops are way beyond my budget now). I set up my laptop as a dual Win/Linux machine and I'm spending most of my time on the Linux side of things and only occasionally switch to Windows.

I also want to comment on Windows. I see so many complaints, but I just want to say that I never see ADs in my start menu or anywhere for that matter and hardly ever have any issues. But, I am a user who uses the entire microsoft ecosystem including copilot and one drive, and I find that these things work well for me. However, I agree that they should 100% absolutely NOT FORCE users into the eco system and definitely do not punish those who want to use Windows in standalone mode with constant ADs. That should definitely be in violation of antitrust regulations.....
