I am waiting for M5 Air.

And this is just the base M5. It'll be interesting to see the numbers vs the M5 Pro/Max/Ultra

I don't understand why everyone is getting "blown away" with Panther Lake's performance, especially when compared to Apple Silicon. Reviewers are literally comparing Intel's highest offering with Apple's base M series processor of the current generation, and still get beaten. I'm not an Apple fanboy, heck, I got a M1 Pro MacBook Pro a few months back and always have been a Windows guy, but this comparison is annoying. Or maybe I'm just missing something.

I can't wait til it comes out so we can all compare it to the older Macbook Airs. Watch the Airs beat it. 😂

Bro talk about the battery without telling how long it will last against the macbook

I'm using a Lenovo Yoga 2-in-1 14 and it's a great laptop. I get 13 hours of battery life doing casual stuff and it has the power of an M1 chip which is enough for me. I love the 4k screen but I would love to go from three points to 2.2 which is why I'm looking at the Thinkpad X1 Carbon Gen 14. I like the weight and the repairability. I assume that the battery life is comparable or better than Lunar Lake. I also assume performance is better. Why do I want Panther Lake instead of a MacBook? I have a program that is native Windows x64. It takes a 65% performance hit running on Apple Silicon. Two of the programs I use also have issues with Tahoe. I'm hoping that they are fixed by this summer. The other thing is the weight. Even the MacBook Air 13 is 2.7 pounds while the MacBook Pro 14 is 3.5 pounds. I don't see MacBooks getting down to 2.2 pounds but Apple could surprise me. One of the other issues for me is that Rosetta 2 is going away in 2027. And that program that is one of my most important isn't going to get ported to Apple Silicon. One other thing that I'm looking forward to on Panther Lake is PCIe Gen 5 NVMe speeds.

Base studio display is such a horrible let down. No pro motion, no mini led. The existing panel was dated and old in 2022 already. In today's time its significantly lacking

So the $1599 Studio Display is basically the same specs as the old one? After waiting for the new one, this is what they drop? Disappointing.

I have an touch screen issued windows pc for work and never use the feature, I forget that its even there.

Steve Jobs was correct. Unless this device folds all the way back into a tablet or Microsoft design PC thing, it's even less use than the MacBook Pro toolbar. Try touching your own laptop screen and you'll experience all kinds of muscle strain.

I've grown accustomed to smudges on the iPad. It is what it is. Smudges on my MacBook are the worst thing ever.

If they can offer the A18 Pro with 12GB RAM, even if there's no BTO option for more, that would make a very respectable low-end Mac. If it's only available with 8, I'd always recommend an MBA.

I purchased an M1 Air with 8 gigs back in early 2024. It just wasn't enough RAM beyond the very basics. Even with the increase in RAM prices, you can't ship an 8 gig system in 2026. Even 12 is going to be too tight. It reminds me of budget Windows 10 Systems that shipped with 2-4 gigs. That was about enough to boot, but you couldn't actually use it for anything. I'm afraid a budget MacBook with 8 gig RAM is just going to be such a poor experience that it is going to sour people on using Macs. For a company that prides itself on making things that 'just work', an 8 gig Mac doesn't and shouldn't be released.

I honestly can’t wait for the announcement. I really just want to see what this budget MacBook is gonna be like. That’s the one device I hope to get by this year. The new budget MacBook
